Mercer Island falls to Bellevue | Girls prep basketball

The Mercer Island girls basketball team lost to Bellevue on Friday, Jan. 25, falling 59-56 in overtime.
The Islanders were up 30-19 at halftime, but a strong second half for Bellevue tied the score at the end of the fourth quarter at 48 for each team. In the extra time, Bellevue hit 11 points, holding the Islanders to eight to win the game.
Kris Brackmann scored 15 points for the Islanders, while both Jessical Blakeslee and Julia Blumenstein added 12 points. Renae Tessem had six points and Suri Johnson, Arianna Moscatel and Rachael Tessem had two points each.
The Islanders will play Liberty on Tuesday, Jan. 29 in a 5:45 p.m. home game, the final of the season. The team plans to honor it’s seniors at the game.
