Mercer Island earns senior night win over Liberty | Boys prep basketball

The Mercer Island boys celebrated senior night on Tuesday, Jan. 29 with a win over Liberty to clinch the regular season KingCo title. The Islanders won 70-53.
Mercer Island was up 20-10 at the end of the first quarter, and kept a 31-22 lead at halftime. The Islanders had a huge fourth quarter, scoring 21 points while keeping the Patriots to just 13.
Kaleb Warner had 23 points during the game and Joe Rasmussen added 22 overall. Nick Nordale posted 11 points in the win, Jake Shaddle added six and both Daniel Sims and Jake Stenberg posted three points. Max Tilden added two to the overall score.
The Islanders will play at Lake Washington on Thursday, Jan. 31 in a 7:30 p.m. game. The team will begin the post season as the No. 1 seed in KingCo, playing their first game of the KingCo tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Bellevue College. The winner of the game will play in the KingCo championship match on Thursday, Feb. 7.
