Mercer Island basketball players earn KingCo honors | Sports brief

Several members of the Mercer Island boys and girls basketball teams were named to the All-KingCo team this winter.

Boys head coach Gavin Cree was named the conference's coach of the year, while most valuable player went to Joe Rasmussen, who also earned the defensive player of the year award.

First team honors went to Kaleb Warner and Nick Nordale.

On the girls team, Kris Brackmann was named to the KingCo first team, while Renae Tessem, Julia Blumenstein and Jessica Blakeslee were given honorable mentions.
