Mercer Island beats Kennedy | Prep baseball

The Mercer Island baseball team started off a new season on a new field on Monday, March 11, beating Kennedy 4-2.
Kennedy was the first on the board, scoring a run in the second inning, but Mercer Island responded with a run in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 1-1. Kennedy made it 2-1 in the top of the fourth, followed by another tying run from Mercer Island to make it a 2-2 game going into the fifth inning. It wasn't until the bottom of the sixth when Mercer Island broke through, scoring two runs to take the 4-2 lead and the win.
Kennedy had four hits in the game and one error, while Mercer Island had six hits and one error.
Mack Schlamp was 2-3 at bat with two runs, while Steven Petrie was 1-2 with one run. Beau Hibbert was 1-3 at the plate, scoring the Islanders other run with an RBI. Nick Chandler was 1-4 at the plate with 2 RBI.
Mercer Island will play Garfield at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, followed by a 3:30 p.m. game against Seattle Prep on Thursday, March 14 at Steve Cox Memorial Field in Seattle.
