Coach: Mindy Blakeslee
Number of athletes: 75
Last season: The Islanders won their second straight 3A state title. Senior Nora Tan was the singles state champion, and the Islanders won the KingCo and district titles.
Strengths: “Depth,” said head coach Blakeslee.
Focus: “Consistency, cutting down on unforced errors, footwork and serving placement and percentage,” the coach said.
Captains: Seniors Sarah Kahan and Nora Tan.
Game to watch: Kamiak and Newport.
“March 11, we played the 2011 and 2012 4A state champs Kamiak,” said Blakeslee. “Newport later this season is always tough.”
The Islanders will play Newport at Newport High School on April 25. The team beat Kamiak 7-0 on Monday, March 11.
