With two games on the books, the Mercer Island baseball team also has two wins on the record, after beating Garfield 5-3 on Tuesday, March 12.
Despite some light rain, the Islanders took an early lead, up 2-0 at the end of the first inning. It didn't take long to expand on the lead, adding three runs in the top of the second for a 5-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Garfield pushed back, scoring twice in the second before the bats for both squads went quiet until the fifth inning when Garfield added it's third and final run of the night.
