Mercer Island Little League opening day Saturday, April 20 features Edgar Martinez

The Mercer Island Little League will host its annual Opening Day ceremony on Saturday, April 20, at the South Mercer Playfields. This year’s guest speaker will be former Seattle Mariner Edgar Martinez.

The event begins at 11 a.m. and will include the Mariner Moose, making a special appearance. The event is being emceed by Aaron Kornblum.

Opening day features a raffle, a silent auction of signed Martinez paraphernalia, Little League T-shirts and more items. There will also be a $5 barbecue lunch of hot dogs, chips and a beverage.

Anyone interested in bidding to catch the ceremonial first pitch throw by Martinez can bid on it by visiting PEAK.

The Mercer Island High School baseball and softball teams will be on hand to greet all 68 Little League teams.
