Mercer Island fourth at KingCo tournament | Girls prep golf

The Mercer Island girls golf team competed in the KingCo tournament at Willows Run Golf Course on Monday, May 6. The Islanders finished in fourth place as a team overall with a score of 486. Interlake won the event with a team score of 468.

Individually, Interlake's Aleana Groenhout won the event, shooting 73. Mercer Island's Jane Peterson finished in seventh place with a 93, followed by Madison Pearson in eighth place with a 94. Molly White finished in 10th place at 96 stroke, while Emma Young finished in 14th place with a 98. Katie Rorem was 21st overall with a score of 105.

Qualifying golfers earned a spot in the SeaKing District tournament on Monday, May 13 at Riverbend Golf Course. From there, golfers will earn spots into the 3A state tournament.
