The Mercer Island girls lacrosse team knew it had a challenge facing it in the state semifinals, going up against one of the only two teams the Islanders had lost to this season. Mercer Island faced off against Lakeside on Tuesday, May 14, falling 14-6 to end the season.

The game got off to a quick start with Lakeside hitting the mark in the first moments of the game, but Mercer Island set a fast pace and followed suit, evening the score 1-1. But Lakeside found its rhythm quickly, scoring nine more points in the first half, while holding the Islanders to just two points in the first 25 minutes. The score was 10-2 for the Lions at halftime.

In the second half, despite solid scoring chances for Mercer Island, Lakeside continued to control the game, scoring another four points. Mercer Island surged late in the game, added four more points, but couldn't overcome the deficit set early in the game.

Dulce Moll scored three goals in the game, with one assist, while Saffron Snethen scored two goals. Taylor Dahlgren scored one goal in the match and Hannah Paborsky had three ground balls in the game.

Mercer Island finished the season with a 12-3 overall record, and 7-0 in league play.
