The Mercer Island girls basketball team lost to the Liberty Patriots 46-29 Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Mercer Island High School.

The Islanders were held to single digits in the first two quarters, as Liberty began pulling away in the second quarter to head into halftime leading 26-13. Despite turning up the offense in the second half, the Islanders could not overcome the deficit.

Jamie Mounger led the Islanders in scoring with six points, while Jess Blakeslee and senior captain Renae Tessem each had five points. Anna Luce contributed four points, and Julia Blumenstein pitched in three points for Mercer Island.

Next up for the Islanders is a conference matchup with Interlake at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at Mercer Island High School.
