The Mercer Island Boys JV lacrosse team won the Cavalier Invitational tournament the weekend of March 15 and 16 in Bellingham. One of only two JV teams participating in the tournament, the Mercer Island boys went undefeated, beating Everett’s varsity team in the semifinals 6-3. In the final, Mercer Island faced five-time defending champion, the Overlake School, edging them to a 5-3 win. The Islanders opened league play the following evening, winning its JV matchup with Tahoma, 18-1.
