Girls lacrosse beats Holy Names

Mercer Island girls lacrosse improved its record to 3-4 this season with a 19-10 victory over Holy Names Tuesday, April 15 at Islander Stadium. Holly Waggoner had 7 goals and 2 assists for the Islanders, while Leah Paborsky had 4 goals and 2 ground balls and Hannah Paborsky had 3 goals, 2 assists and 4 ground balls. In goal, Alle Dunbar had 6 saves. Mercer Island will take on the Southwest Titans at 7:45 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Mosier Field in Burien.

Girls tennis returns with win

Mercer Island tennis returned from spring break with a 7-0 win over Juanita Tuesday at Mercer Island High School. Caroline Hamilton beat Catherine Ross 6-1, 6-1, Sarah Sweet beat Tess Pate 6-0, 6-3, Sammy Sweet beat Delaney-Deanna Chan 6-0, 6-2 and Kimia Preston beat Izzy Jo 6-0, 6-1. In doubles action, Lydia and Gabby Venditti beat Alizeh Karmali and Maheen Keshani 6-0, 6-0. Caroline Dillon and Julia Glick beat Noel Laursen and Julie Stevens 6-3, 6-3, and Kristine Melin and Chloe Gage beat Shannon O’Neil and Abby Bergman 6-0, 6-0. Next, the Islanders take on Kamiak at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Mercer Island Country Club.
