After Mercer Island rallied from a one-run deficit to take a 6-4 lead in its KingCo tournament matchup with Bellevue, Bellevue's Kristie Bennett slammed a three-run home run to give the Wolverines a 7-6 win in dramatic fashion Thursday, May 15 at Hartmann Park in Redmond. The loss ended the season for the Islanders.

Squaring off for the second time in a week, Bellevue led 2-0 after the first inning and extended its lead to 4-0 after four. Mercer Island managed to close the gap to 4-3 in the fifth, tacking on three more runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-4 lead. But with two outs and a full count, Bennett struck in the bottom of the seventh to give the Wolverines the win. Bennett finished 1-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored. For the Islanders, Morgan Peyou went 4-4 with two triples, two RBIs and two runs scored and Makenna Pellerin went 3-4 with a triple and an RBI.
