Mercer Island cruises past Seattle Prep | Prep boys lacrosse

Mercer Island boys lacrosse opened state tournament competition in impressive fashion Tuesday, thumping Seattle Prep 18-2 at Islander Stadium.

The Islanders were up and running from the get-go, with Brett Bottomley and Peter Mahony both scoring twice in the first period to give Mercer Island a 6-1 lead after one and extending its lead to 10-1 at the half. The offense kept coming in the second half, with Evan Condon finding the back of the net three times in the third period before Mercer Island eased off its attack in the fourth quarter. Condon, Bottomley, Cooper Johnson and Reid Fuhr each had three goals for the Islanders.

In the quarterfinal round, Mercer Island will take on Eastside Catholic at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22 at Eastside Catholic High School. Eastside Catholic finished 9-0-0 in the Metro Div. I league and are 16-0-0 overall.
