Local 10U fastpitch softball team, the Northwest Lady Sharks, earned a berth to the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) girls Class A national tournament after taking second place in its bracket at the ASA Northwest National Qualifier, June 27-29 in Salem, Ore.

The national berth marks another accomplishment for a Lady Shark team that has put on an impressive run at the end of its season. In May, the Lady Sharks swept through four games to win the USSSA Mosquito Invite championship in Federal Way, and then took third place at the NSA Sterling Invite in Wenatchee. In early June, the Lady Sharks won the NSA Partiots Invite.

The team includes Penny Walker, Charlise Barokas, Reagan Ellis, Megan Boswell, Megan Cotton, Hannah Olynyk, Belle Schmidt, Hallie Sehlin, Jada Mohamed, Leslie Hines and Olivia Glover. The Lady Sharks are coached by Steve Olynyk, Tim Schmidt and Don Hines.

The ASA/USA girls Class A National Championships will take place July 26-Aug. 3 in Johnson City, TN.
