MI girls swim third at districts - State meet is Saturday at the KCAC

The Mercer Island High School girls swim team finished second at districts Friday at Hec-Ed pool (UW) with a score of 187, finishing ahead of all the 3A KingCo teams participating in the meet including Bellevue (159). Holy Names won the title (261) with Bainbridge Island in second place (238).

The Islanders will compete Saturday in the state meet held at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

Mercer Island finished third thanks to their depth.

The 200-yard freestyle relay was the only event with a Mercer Island winner. The Islanders took first place with a time of 1:42.83.

The Islanders began the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:55.68.

Islander Rachel Godfred placed third in the 200-yard individual in a time of 2:09.83. Godfred also placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.88.

The Mercer Island 400-yard freestyle relay finished third overall with a time of 3:41.89.
