Eastside FC 12U girls win Federal Way Blast-Off

The Eastside FC, comprised of 12U players from the eastside, including several from Mercer Island, recently won the Federal Way Blast-Off tournament held in Federal way on August 3-5. The soccer team swept through the tournament, starting out by grinding to a 1-1 tie against the Federal Way Reign. That was followed by a hard fought 1-0 shutout versus Norpoint Spirit.

Needing a win or tie to get to the championship, Eastside defeated Puyallup SC Tornados 2-0. They capped off their undefeated run by defeating Federal Way 2-0 in the championship tilt.

Mercer Island players on the squad are: Merideth Adams, Emily Bassett, Kianna Chang, Tatum Odegard, Makenna Pellerin, Anna Schroedl and Alida Scalzo.

MI Girls Basketball 2007 Tune Up and 2007 tryouts

The Mercer Island girls basketball Tune Up and 2007 tryout will take place during September. Come to the Tune Up to brush up on skills, play a little basketball and get ready for the upcoming tryouts. All girls, grades 4-8 are welcome, recreational and select.

This is a free program put on by the Mercer Island High School girls basketball Booster Club.

Select coaches will be available to work with players to run organized drills for skill development. Booster Club members will be on hand to answer questions about the MI Girl’s Basketball Program and teams.

Tune Up: September 8, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and September 9, 12 noon to 3 p.m. Both at the Mercer Island High School gymnasium.

Tryouts for 2007-2008 Mercer Island Girl’s Basketball: September 15, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and September 16, 12 noon to 3 p.m. The Tryouts will be held at the Mercer Island High School gymnasium.
