Mercer Island Parks and Recreation is celebrating one of America’s favorite past times — fishing. On Aug. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m., Reporter garden columnest Linda Urbaniak and her husband, Roger, will be teaching children how to catch trout, perch and bass from Lake Washington. The fishing class will be held at the public docks at Luther Burbank Park. Students will be provided with hooks, various dock fishing tackle, and some bait. Participants should bring their own poles. The class is for youth ages 6 to 15 (one adult must accompany each student). The class costs $22. To register, call 275-7609 or go to www.myparksand recreation.com.
