Longtime Mercer Island High School girls and boys tennis coach Joyce Hedlund was hospitalized last night after suffering a massive stroke. According to MIHS Athletic Director Craig Olson, Hedlund suffered the stroke on Monday afternoon and was taken to Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue last night. Olson said her condition as of Tuesday afternoon was not good.

Hedlund and the MIHS boys tennis team had just wrapped up the 2009 KingCo tournament, taking both the singles and doubles titles last weekend.
