The Mercer Island High School girls soccer team advanced to the state soccer quarterfinals after beating Auburn Mountainview on Tuesday night 2-1.

The Lions jumped out to a quick goal in the first half before Islander Erin Bourguignon scored twice later in the first half. The second half remained scoreless as both teams battled through the pouring rain, looking for various chances.

The Islanders will advance to take on the winner of the Sumner, Glacier Peak matchup, also held Tuesday night. MI's next game will be this Saturday, Nov. 14.
