A lean team comprised of MIHS Varsity and JV players was victorious in the Tahoma Summer Sizzle Tournament the weekend of June 25, winning the championship game against Issaquah 12-8.

Sixteen teams from throughout the Northwest competed in the tournament, including 2010 State Champions Bellevue, who fell to Issaquah 6-3 in the tournament semifinals.

In the championship game, midfielder Colton Knebel made eight goals, which gave him tournament MVP status. Doug Mahony, also a midfielder, dominated the faceoffs and scored three goals, while defenseman Ryan Blumenstein scored a jaw-dropping, unassisted goal with a long, D-stick clear from deep in his own territory.
