Tegan Yuasa, a second grader at West Mercer Elementary, finished third in the 6- and 7-year-old division. His older brother, Taylan Yuasa, an eighth-grader at Islander Middle School, finished seventh in the 13- and 14-year-old division. Both compete with the Budokan Judo Club in Seattle.

It was Tegan Yuasa’s first trip to the National tournament and the second for Taylan Yuasa, who took fourth at the Junior National Scholastics Tournament held in March in Spokane.
