Islanders earn first place at Whidbey Island golf tournament

Freshman Gihoe Seo captured first place at the tournament with a score of a 77.

The Mercer Island Islanders girls golf team captured first place at the Whidbey Shootout at the Whidbey Golf Club on March 20.

The tournament, which featured 100 golfers from 15 different high school programs, was dominated by the Islanders. Mercer Island won the tournament, compiling a score of 330 strokes. Bellingham finished in second place with a distant 384 strokes. The Islanders broke the tournament record by nine strokes (Islanders set the previous record in 2017 with 339 strokes). Freshman Gihoe Seo captured first place at the tournament with a score of a 77. Ella Warburg earned second place with a score of 79 strokes. Lily Pruchno nabbed fifth place, Estey Chen registered a seventh-place finish and Katelyn Davis tallied a 10th-place finish.
