Mercer Island beats Seattle Prep, advances to district quarterfinals | Prep girls basketball

Islanders will face Roosevelt in next round of Sea-King district tournament.

Getting 20 points from Anna Luce and 16 from Jess Blakeslee, the Mercer Island girls basketball team earned a 59-48 opening round victory over Seattle Prep in the 3A Sea-King district tournament Saturday at Mercer Island High School. The loss ended the season for Seattle Prep (12-12).

The Islanders (18-4) advanced to the district tournament quarterfinals, where they will take on the Roosevelt Rough Riders (16-7). Mercer Island and Roosevelt will tip off at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 at Ingraham High School in Seattle.
