Islanders defeat Patriots in high-scoring contest

The Mercer Island Islanders softball team defeated the Liberty Patriots 18-15 on April 19 at Liberty High School in Renton. The Islanders finished the game with 15 hits. Mercer Island improved to 5-8 overall with the win. Islanders’ player Olivia Kane went 2-for-4 at the plate with 5 RBI. Kane connected on grand-slam in the top of the fifth inning. Mercer Island’s Angelina Barokas went 3-for-4 at the plate with 5 RBI and a home-run as well in the sixth inning. Camryn Steiner went 2-for-6 at the plate for the Islanders.

Mercer Island shuts out Bellevue

The Mercer Island Islanders earned a 4-0 victory against the Bellevue Wolverines on April 18. The Islanders (11-1) will host the Sammamish Totems at 6 p.m. on April 28.

BASEBALL

Mercer Island dominates Patriots on the diamond

The Mercer Island Islanders rolled to a 9-1 win against the Liberty Patriots on April 19. The Islanders (11-1) will host the Redmond Mustangs at 5 p.m. on April 26 at Bellevue College.
