Mercer Island girls track team earns third place at Lake Washington Invitational

Mercer Island relay teams dominate.

The Mercer Island Islanders girls track and field squad earned third place as a team, compiling 59 team points at the42nd annual Lake Washington All-Girls Invitational on April 28. Kamiak captured first place (87 team points) at the event.

The Islanders 800 relay quartet consisting of Kayla Lee, Margaret Baker, Gretchen Blohm and Eliza Crenshaw earned firstplace with a time of 1:45.56. Mercer Island’s 1600 relay squad of Maya Virdell, Lee, Baker and Blohm cruised to a firstplace finish with a time of 4:03.58. Lee captured second place in the 200 with a time of 26.31. Baker captured secondplace in the 400 with a time of 58.74. Islanders senior Katie McCormick (pictured) competed in the high jump.
