Plunge for Nile Clarke | Letters

Plunge for Nile

Thank you for your article about Nile Clarke. It was not mentioned that he started the Polar Bear Swim in 1967, at noon on New Year’s Day. He would do the countdown and in we would plunge. I have been doing it since 2002. One year, Nile was in Hawaii and had his son/grandson do the countdown and said he would be thinking of us. We will miss him this year and will plunge in memory of him.
