Upcoming wellness event to address teleworking-related health risks, mitigation techniques

The chamber-hosted webinar is set for Aug. 6.

On Aug. 6, the Mercer Island Chamber of Commerce is putting on a “working wellness” webinar, a free, remote event from 8-9 a.m.

Hosted by Dr. Ilan Green, from Helix Sport + Spine, and Dr. Erica Clark, from Movement Systems PT, the program will cover health risks associated with working from home and ways to mitigate their effects, according to the chamber’s website.

“As we all adjust to a new normal of more [work from home] situations, we are finding out our bodies are experiencing some health issues with the continued sitting and isolated interactions,” the chamber website states.

The event will additionally see discussions around risks associated with sitting for long periods of time, tips to improved one’s seated posture, how to create a work-break routine and stretches and exercises one can do while they work remotely.

A link to the webinar, which will be hosted on Zoom, will likely be sent to those registered either a day or two days before the event.
