City Council to consider position on I-594 at Sept. 2 meeting

The Mercer Island City Council will hold a public hearing to determine a position on I-594 concerning background checks for gun ownership at its regular meeting Sept. 2

The Mercer Island City Council will hold a public hearing regarding Initiative Measure No. 594, concerning background checks for firearm sales and transfers, Ballot Title: “This measure would apply currently used criminal and public safety background checks by licensed dealers to all firearm sales and transfers, including gun show and online sales, with specific exceptions.  Should this measure be enacted into law?”  The Council will consider taking a position on this initiative. This public hearing will be held during the City Council Regular Meeting in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 9611 SE 36th Street, Mercer Island, WA, at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2014.
