Duwamish River discussion, YFS event, Earth Day Fair on tap/ Briefs

Author BJ Cummings will discuss her book “The River That Made Seattle,” a human and natural history of the Duwamish, at 6 p.m. on March 28 at the Mercer Island Library. Registration is not required for the event, which is presented by Humanities Washington in partnership with the Mercer Island Historical Society and sponsored by the Friends of the Mercer Island Library.

Healthy Youth Initiative event

Earth Day Fair

The city of Mercer Island will hold its Leap for Green Earth Day Fair: Taking Action! from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center. This free event celebrates Earth Day by promoting environmental practices and activities for kids and adults, and raises general awareness of local sustainability resources. Sponsored by Cedar Grove, the event will feature sustainability vendors, electric vehicles, educational displays, entertainment, food trucks and more.
