A East King County town hall has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 in Bellevue to discuss transportation.

The meeting will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with the open house running from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a panel discussion and questions from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Bellevue City Hall.

Elected leaders from Bellevue, Auburn, Kenmore, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Sammamish, County Council members and Deputy King County Executive Fred Jarrett will be on hand to discuss transportation in the area and future plans.

The meeting is being co-hosted by the Sound Cities Association, the City of Bellevue and King County, all which are looking for sustainable transportation funding options.

Questions can be sent to the panel via email at community.relations@kingcounty.gov.

“King County expects to close 35 bridges in the next 25 years and reduce yearly storm response due to revenues that continue to decline,” said Harold Taniguchi, director of the King County Department of Transportation. “Please attend this meeting to add your voice and story to this important debate that will determine the future of transportation in our region.”

The meeting will also discuss the possible Metro bus service cuts. The cuts would effect several routes on Mercer Island.
