‘Invest in Our Planet’ Earth Day Fair set for April 22

Congregational Church on Mercer Island will hold an “Invest in Our Planet” Earth Day Fair from 4-7 p.m. on April 22. The church’s second annual free event is open to the public and will take place in the church’s parking lot at 4545 Island Crest Way.

“Vendors from our last event (and more) are excited to return and share ideas for saving energy, restoring nature, and building a healthy planet for not only us but our children and their children,” reads the church’s website.

The event will feature about nine vendors, including the church distributing leaflets, cookies and seed packets; Scout Troop 678 discussing PSE Green Energy options people can sign up for; Cedar Grove composting; Mercer Island Sustainability Officer Ross Freeman; Citizens’ Climate Lobby discussing its campaign for a price on carbon; the Eastside Public Utility District collecting signatures to put its proposal on the November ballot; League of Women Voters-sponsored Mercer Island Climate Action Now (MI CAN) group; Earth Ministry, the umbrella organization for faith groups; Sphere Solar Energy Seattle will be recruiting new customers; and an activity for children.
