Islanders move into consolation round | District volleyball results

The Mercer Island volleyball team took a tough loss during the first round of the SeaKing district volleyball tournament on Thursday, Nov. 3. The Islanders lost 3-2 (17-25, 17-25, 25-20, 27-25, 14-16).

Lorial Yeadon had 13 kills and 10 digs for the team, while Rachel Bowdle added 27 digs. Sara Lindquist had 17 kills, Carly Wilson had 41 assists and Kris Brackmann had nine kills and four aces.

Despite losing, the Islanders remain in the tournament, moving into the consolation round on Saturday, Nov. 5. The first game in that bracket will be against Lake Washington on Saturday at Sammamish High School at 1 p.m.

If the Islanders beat Lake Washington the team moves forward to play at 3 p.m. against the loser of the Eastside Catholic, Bainbridge Island match-up. A win in the second Saturday match would guarantee the Islanders a berth at state.

The Islanders have played Lake Washington twice this season, winning both times.
