Islanders stall against Rebels, Saints | Prep soccer

It was a tough week for the girls soccer program.

The Islanders faced a 0-2 week, losing to second-place Juanita last Tuesday, before falling to Interlake on Thursday in back-to-back away contests.

At Juanita, the Islanders battled for a strong 80 minutes, getting their own shots on goal late in the first, but couldn’t get past the league’s top goalie, Niki Fausset, who has six shutouts this season. The final score was 1-0.

Haili Adams found her way to the game-winning goal in the 70th minute, off an assist from Tori Lee.

Looking to bounce back, the Islanders headed to Interlake on Thursday, but the week ended with a 1-0 loss for Mercer Island. Emma Bergstrom scored the game’s lone goal, assisted by Danielle Brandli.

The Islanders are now 4-8 this season overall, with a 4-6 league record.

The team played at Bellevue on Tuesday, after Reporter deadline, and will host Sammamish on Thursday in the last home game of the season.
