Less than a week head of the general election, KCTS 9 has released the latest Washington poll results.

The poll is a comprehensive, scientific poll covering the major races and issues on the November ballot. Polling was conducted Oct. 18-31 and sampled 722 registered voters and 632 likely voters.

Based on the polls findings, President Barack Obama continues to lead in the state with 56.4 percent of registered voters giving him a second term, with 57.1 percent of likely voters voting for Obama. Republican challenger Mitt Romney earned 35.9 percent of the registered voters and 36.4 percent from likely voters.

In the governors race, Jay Inslee leads with 47.2 of registered voters and 48.7 of likely voters. Rob McKenna had 45.5 percent of registered voters and 45.6 percent of likely voters.

According to the poll, Maria Cantwell had the support of 59.4 percent of registered voters and 60.8 percent of likely voters, while challenger Michael Baumgartner earned 31.6 percent of registered and 33.3 percent of likely voters.

In the race for attorney general, Bob Ferguson had 44.2 percent of registered and 44.9 percent of likely voters, while Reagan Dunn had 32.4 percent and 34 percent.

Based on the poll, voters are likely to uphold Referendum 74, leading 57.3 percent to 36.2 percent among registered voters with 6 percent undecided.

On Initiative 502 55.8 percent of voters would vote yes, while 36.7 percent would vote not to legalize marijuana.

Initiative 1185, the initiative which would continue the two-third majority on raising taxes, had 53 percent of registered voters saying yes, and 34.2 percent saying no. Approximately 11 percent said they were still undecided on the issue.

Registered voters said they were likely to approve Initiative 1240 on charter schools, with 55.3 percent of the registered voters in favor and 36.4 saying no.
