King County stage 2 burn ban lifted

The stage 2 burn ban for King, Kitsap and Pierce counties, which was issued on Dec. 8, was lifted on Dec. 13.

The region’s previous weather pattern caused poor air quality, so county officials put a burn ban in place for all residents. A new weather pattern has facilitated better mixing and the dispersion of fine particle pollution, creating much better overall air quality.

Puget Sound Clean Air Agency updates and provides information for local residents and businesses about air quality and burn bans. Due to rapid changes during the winter months, conditions can change quickly.

More information about local burn bans can also be found via the King County Fire Marshal’s Web site at: www.kingcounty.gov/property/FireMarshal.aspx.

An updated list of all burn bans in the county is also kept at this site, in addition to information about fire permits and other fire-related rules and laws for King County residents.
