‘Beyond Measure’ screening is Nov. 10

The Stroum Jewish Community Center and ParentMap will present “Beyond Measure” for a special screening at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10. The documentary film, from the makers of “Race to Nowhere,” challenges the assumptions of the test-driven education system in the U.S.

“To fix America’s troubled education system, we’re told that we need to narrow our curricula, standardize our classrooms and find new ways to measure students and teachers,” according to the film description. “But what if these ‘fixes’ are making our schools worse.”

After the documentary, there will be time for a Q and A with Mercer Island Youth and Family Services Director Cindy Goodwin, education expert Anoo Padte and Deb Grover with Community of Mindful Parenting.

The film is rated PG. This event is recommended for parents and kids 12 and up.
