A Mercer Island police officer pulled over a 17-year-old for speeding and failing to stop at a stop sign in the 7600 block of North Mercer Way on May 26. According to the incident report, the driver stated that he did not have an ID on him, as his wallet was at home. No information on the teenager’s license could be found. He was arrested for driving without a license and was picked up by his father.

A Mercer Island police officer discovered an Island man passed out behind the wheel of his car in the 3500 block of East Mercer Way on May 27. According to the incident report, somebody called to report the subject as being asleep in his car. When the officer arrived on the scene, he noticed that the man was under the influence of alcohol. The man was arrested and booked into the Issaquah Jail.

Theft

A man living in the 2200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. reported that his Acura Integra was stolen from his driveway on May 26. The vehicle had been locked. Two sets of keys exist, and both were accounted for. According to the victim, the vehicle was stolen sometime between 9 p.m. on May 25 and 9 a.m. on May 26. The car’s approximate value is $4,000.

A woman living in the 2200 block of 71st Avenue S.E. reported that her Toyota Prius was prowled on May 25. According to the incident report, the perpetrator entered her car, which was left unlocked in the victim’s driveway, between midnight and 11 a.m. on May 25. Approximately $5 in change was stolen from the vehicle.

A car was prowled in the 3200 block of West Concord Way on May 26. According to the incident report, the vehicle was locked and parked in a lot southwest of the victim’s apartment complex. The perpetrator stole a Garmin GPS from the car’s glove compartment.

Fraud

An Island woman reported that several unauthorized transactions were made to her Wells Fargo checking account on May 21. According to the report, the victim believes that the charges, which were less than $1,500, were made via the Internet. The woman notified the bank, and her debit and credit cards were canceled.

Found property

A man discovered a bicycle in the bushes along a trail on the north side of I-90 from 60th Avenue S.E. on May 28. The man reported the bike to Mercer Island police after seeing it in the bushes for three days. The Ironhorse mountain bike is being kept as found property.

Mischief

An unknown person stole a large, green yard waste container from a residence in the 7100 block of 86th Avenue S.E. on May 22. The Rabanco container was sitting in the owner’s front yard when it was stolen.
