Mercer Island students place fourth in national entrepreneurship competition

The team from Mercer Island High School recently placed fourth in the national Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) competition in Sacramento, California.

The team from Mercer Island High School recently placed fourth in the national Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (SAGE) competition in Sacramento, California.

MIHS students Fletcher Asmus, Nathan DeVine, Cara Schneiderman and Emma Stein participated, as representatives of the international entrepreneurship class had previously qualified to represent Washington state. Their teacher is Jennifer McLellan.

“As ambassadors from the state of Washington, our student entrepreneurs from Mercer Island High School were stellar examples of visionaries and student leaders,” Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano said in a press release. “We’re proud they placed fourth nationally and are an inspiration to their peers and others.”

SAGE is a global nonprofit organization that connects high school student organizations to mentors from local universities and businesses. Its mission is to advance youth entrepreneurship and community service around the world, emphasizing ethical business practices, social responsibility, civic engagement and environmental awareness.
