Mercer Island track athletes earn KingCo honors | Sports brief

Over 10 members of the Mercer Island High School girls and boys track and field teams earned All-KingCo honors this spring.

Over 10 members of the Mercer Island High School girls and boys track and field teams earned All-KingCo honors this spring.

On the boys team first team honors went to Eric Schulz for the 800 meters and as a member of the boys 4×400 relay. Matt Wotipka was honored for his races in the 3,200 meter event, while Greyson Weltyk earned first team honors as a high jumper. The boys 4×400 team was also named to the first team.

On the girls team, Lorial Yeadon was named to the first team in the 100 meters, while Laura Harrison earned the honors for the 200, 400 and as a member of the 4×400 relay team. Victoria Gersch was named to the first team for the 200 and the 4×400 relay. Alida Scalzo earned first team honors for the 1,600 meter race. Emily Bassett was named for the shot put and discus, Lindsay Lightfoot earned the honor for the 100 meter hurdles, and Emily Lightfoot earned the honors for the high jump, as did Kris Brackmann. Latrevian Saunders was honored for the triple jump. The girls 4×400 relay team also earned first team honors.
