Clarke and Clarke Art and Artifacts, at 7605 SE 27th St., will host a gallery opening from 5-8 p.m. for Matt Timo’s “Elusive Introspection.” The show will run from March 2-31.

Timo, a Seattle native, acquired his master’s degress from the University of Washington in 1973 and Central Washington University in 1979. He began a noted lifelong art career and accumulation of awards in 1978.

He was selected for shows in New York, Austria, and China, as well as locally at SAM Gallery and the Nordic Heritage Museum, from 2008-2015.

Timo works primarily in mixed media formats using acrylics, colored pencil, molded paper and collage. By taking challenging risks in combining elements, he achieves a dramatic three dimensional sense in his work, according to gallery co-owner Ginny Clarke.

“The image of an indistinct human figure compels him and often suggests a multitude of moods allowing the viewer to superimpose his or her own inquiry,” she wrote in a press release. “Dramatic yet subtle colors, combined elements and a three dimensional perspective connect and unite each painting and are a common thread in his art.”

Timo will be available to meet and answer questions about his art, which is inspired by “the elusive, the introspective and the mysterious.”
