Mercer Island Police are investigating whether a 17-year-old Mercer Island High School student hacked into the high school’s grading system to change their own grades.
KIRO 7 reported a teacher noticed abnormalities on her school teacher account, particularly unauthorized altering of a student’s grades. Administrators later found three other teachers found hacks to their accounts and grade changes for the same student.
Police estimate the student changed their grades 10 times. The student, a juvenile, is being investigated for computer trespass and could be put into a diversion program.
Mercer Island Police and the Mercer Island School District declined to comment on the investigation.
