MIPD officers arrest trespassing suspect caught on surveillance video

Mercer Island police officers arrested two subjects this week, one suspect for trespassing and the other suspect for felony possession of a stolen vehicle.

Both suspects were apprehended after officers tracked down the white minivan with a broken windshield that they were driving in, a vehicle that officers were on the lookout for following a First Hill trespassing.

According to a police report, after several First Hill residents captured home surveillance footage of an individual trespassing on their property, officers used the footage to pinpoint a primary suspect known to be associated with the minivan. A search warrant was obtained for the minivan and additional evidence was collected.

“Thank you to our community for being invaluable partners in our efforts to solve crime and keep the Island safe,” the report reads.
