MISD switches schools operations to three-hour delay today

As icy conditions prevail on local roads, the Mercer Island School District will operate on a three-hour delay today. The district initially announced a two-hour delay — like yesterday — but has since switched operations to a three-hour delay.

“We ask that families that are using district transportation be patient this morning as school buses navigate their routes,” the district’s site notes. “This three-hour delay will ensure all roads and walking paths around our schools are as safe as they can be after overnight temperatures at or below freezing.”

This delay will affect class starting times for high school, junior high and elementary schools; there will be no lunch service for elementary students. All preschool classes are canceled today, and there will be no off-island transportation this morning.
