This week city crews will start grading a new trail along the north edge of the Island Park Elementary School campus to provide a safe walking path parallel to S.E. 53rd Place for neighborhood residents and students. This project is funded by the city’s Safe Routes to School program and is organized in cooperation with the MI School District. Residents should expect intermittent lane closures on this street as gravel and landscaping activities take place.
