Northwest Yeshiva students earn honors during Summer Celebration art show

Several students from Northwest Yeshiva High School won awards during the 39th annual Juried Junior Art Show sponsored by the Mercer Island Visual Arts League and Wells Fargo Bank.

Several students from Northwest Yeshiva High School won awards during the 39th annual Juried Junior Art Show sponsored by the Mercer Island Visual Arts League and Wells Fargo Bank.

The awards were given to the best original works submitted by artists in kindergarten through 12th grade. Pieces were shown at Wells Fargo Band during Summer Celebration, and winners earned cash prizes, while some will have their pieces shown on Mercer Island through the summer.

Winners from Northwest Yeshiva included:

• Roxanna Sikavi, class of 2016, for her piece “Conversation”. She earned the Island Books Award and will have her piece showcased at the store.

• Joel Jacobs and Naomi Stanley, both class of 2013, for the piece “Spring”. They won the Franca Martin Award.

• Sarah Bolder, class of 2013, for her pieces “Free” and “Flowers”. She won the Pia Messina Award and the Cascade Frames Award.

• Jed Chapman, class of 2016, for the piece “Homage to Warhol”. He earned an honorable mention ribbon.

• Maya Pogrebinsky, class of 2016, for the piece “Twilight”. She earned a second place award.
