Aug. 14

Nude jogger: It was reported at 7:07 p.m. that a male was jogging nude in the park in the 2000 block of 84th Avenue Southeast. Police took the man into custody for exposure.

Aug. 13

Hit-and-run: At 7:49 a.m., a hit-and-run accident was reported in the 8800 block of Island Crest Way. A woman reported that her child was struck by a vehicle, which fled the scene.

Marine incident: A boat was reported taking on water at 7:06 p.m. in the waters west of the Island. The Mercer Island Police Department Marine Patrol arrived to provide assistance.

Aug. 12

Unpaid vacation: A fraud incident was reported at 10:38 a.m. in the 8800 block of Southeast 72nd Place. A suspect sent the reporting subject a check for a vacation rental property that would later bounce.

Burglary: A burglary was reported at 12:45 p.m. in the 7600 block of Southeast 27th Street. Someone broke into a storage locker and swiped property of great value.

Wallet snatch: At 6:16 p.m., a subject reported a wallet theft — including fraudulent charges attempted on the stolen credit cards — in the 8400 block of Southeast 68th Street.

Aug. 11

Phone fraud: It was reported at 7:34 a.m. in the 3200 block of 89th Place Southeast that a woman had a fraudulent cell phone account opened in her name.

Party time: At 9:33 a.m. in the 7700 block of East Mercer Way, a subject expressed concerns regarding more frequent after-hours parties heard at parks.

Large demonstration: It was reported at 7:42 p.m. in the 3200 block of 78th Avenue Southeast that about 150-200 demonstrators gathered in the street. Police officers provided presence on the scene.

DUI: Police arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI at 10:42 p.m. in the 3200 block of Shorewood Drive.

Aug. 10

Dog issue: At 11:10 a.m. in the 2200 block of 72nd Avenue Southeast, a citizen contacted police regarding dogs regularly allowed to be off leash.

Disturbance: At 7:43 p.m., police received multiple reports of a male screaming at vehicles in the 7700 block of Sunset Highway. Officers contacted the subject.

Aug. 6

Suspicious slumber: It was reported at 8:34 a.m. in the 3000 block of 78th Avenue Southeast that a man became upset when he was found sleeping under the counter in a commercial establishment.

Traffic accident: No injuries were reported and an officer assisted with informational exchange following a traffic accident at 3:04 p.m. in the 2800 block of 62nd Avenue Southeast.

Beware of scam: At 6:11 p.m., an employment offer scam was reported by a resident in the 4300 block of Forest Avenue Southeast. It was noted that report work is performed and then repayment is requested in the form of money orders.

Aug. 5

Cat alert: At 9:34 a.m., officers responded to a home alarm in the 5800 block of West Mercer Way and found nothing suspicious, just a very large cat inside.

Fishy incident: It was reported at 12:06 p.m. that someone broke into a storage unit in the 2600 block of 76th Avenue Southeast and swiped fishing items.

Aug. 3

Gardening grab: A victim in the 8200 block of Southeast 78th Street reported at 7:10 a.m. that someone forced their way into a tool shed and stole gardening supplies.

A bark of success: At 11:44 a.m. in the 4700 block of 89th Avenue Southeast, a police officer found a lost dog, and after enticing him with treats the animal was reunited with its owner.

Sour sale: A police officer provided resources after a family dispute over a vehicle sale at 1:12 p.m. in the 2800 block of 75th Place Southeast.

Unfortunate switch off: It was reported at 2:25 p.m. in the 4400 block of Ferncroft Road that someone stole a new bicycle and left an older one behind.

Trespassed: At 5:34 p.m. in the 2700 block of 78th Avenue, a subject was trespassed from the property after exhibiting troubling behavior and refusing to leave.

The chase is on: It was reported at 5:46 p.m. that store employees in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street chased a theft subject. No one was apprehended at the time.

Heads up: A handmade statue of a head was reported found in a flower bed at 10:30 p.m. in the 7700 block of East Mercer Way.
