The Mercer Island volleyball team beat Juanita on Thursday night. The Islanders won in three games 25-20, 25-14, 26-24.
The last time Interlake and Mercer Island met, back on Sept. 18 the Saints held the Islanders to their only draw of the season. On Thursday, Oct. 11 the Saints upped the match, beating the Islanders 1-0 and handing Mercer Island it’s first league loss of the season.
Two vehicles were prowled on Friday night, Oct. 5, on the street in front of the victim’s residence in the 4100 block of 96th Avenue S.E.
In the final home meet of the season, the Mercer Island cross country teams hosted Liberty and Mount Si at Luther Burbank Park on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Both the Mercer Island boys and girls team finished in second place.
The Mercer Island boys tennis team finished out the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 9 with a dominating win over Bellevue. The win also secured the team the KingCo regular season title. The Islanders shut out their KingCo rivals 7-0.

Over the next five City Council meetings, culminating in a final vote on Dec. 3, the Mercer Island City Council will deliberate on how to fashion a $25 million balanced city budget for the next two years.
Recently, an editorial in the Mercer Island Reporter suggested that public transit is a solution to Island traffic problems.
