According to the police report, someone called the police after the man began talking about his guns, which he did not have. Police also confiscated a six-pack of beer.

A 20-year-old burglar from Kent was caught while another got away after a homeowner in the 7000 block of East Mercer Way heard a young man knocking on her door around 12:30 p.m., May 8. The suspect was found hiding in the bushes with a backpack full of burglar tools.

Police arrested a 45-year-old Island resident in the 7700 block of S.E. 27th Street around 1 a.m. on May 3 after she verbally abused a taxi cab driver and refused to pay her $28.80 fare for her ride home from Seattle.

Police arrested a 26-year-old Kent resident for driving a stolen car after they pursued her and three passengers all the way to Seattle’s University District around 6:20 p.m., May 2. The driver, passenger and a toddler fled the scene before police captured and arrested them.

A 54-year-old Seattle man was arrested after stealing $463.50 worth of meat from the North end QFC around 2 p.m. on April 30.

Burglaries

A home under construction in the 3200 block of 81st Place S.E. was burglarized for the third time on the night of May 5. Several tools and equipment were stolen, including a range, stove, heater units, thermostats and smoke alarms.

Several electronics were stolen from a burglarized home in the 4300 block of Shoreclub Drive between 5:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on May 5. According to the incident report, the victim came home around 2:30 p.m. to find his Nikon camera and lens, iPod, flat-screen television, his Apple computer and several accessories gone. Police determined the burglars threw rocks into a bedroom window to get in the home.

Auto accidents

An 18-year-old Island resident lost control of her car and crashed in a ditch while running a stop sign, taking a right turn and waving at her friend, who was walking across the street near the crosswalk at S.E. 42nd Street and 88th Avenue S.E. around 8:50 a.m., May 8. The young woman also ran over a “No Parking” sign while heading into the ditch.

After a car stopped for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, a three-car pileup occurred on Island Crest Way outside Island Park Elementary school around 3 p.m., May 1. All three drivers complained of a sore neck and one driver went to Overlake Hospital.

A truck crashed into a rock-embankment after the 34-year-old driver failed to stop the truck while it was rolling downhill in 6900 block of S.E. Allen Street around 2:20 p.m. on May 4. While the driver claimed that the brakes went out, a police found that truck’s brakes and transmission worked properly.

Domestic violence

A 46-year-old woman was choked by her ex-boyfriend in her home in the 7600 block of S.E. 34th Street and called police around 10 p.m., May 4. Even though the victim said she was in pain and still had visible injuries 17 hours after the attack, she became uncooperative after police indicated they were pursing a domestic violence case and refused to give further details of the circumstances or the suspect.

Air gun at school

School security personnel found an Airsoft pellet rifle in a 16-year-old student’s vehicle in the high school parking lot on the afternoon of May 2 and filed an informational report with the police.

Assault at lacrosse match

A 17-year-old Bellevue High School lacrosse player was cited for reckless endangerment after he launched a lacrosse ball into a crowd of Islander fans and struck a 16-year-old Island high school student in the neck during a match at Islander Stadium on the evening of April 26.

Thefts

After having a friend over for dinner at her home in the 2700 block of 78th Avenue S.E. the afternoon of May 4, a 37-year-old Island resident found her debit card had been stolen and unauthorized transactions occurred in Seattle 12 minutes after the friend left.

An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the safe at the Mary Wayte Pool the night of May 2.

Indecent exposure

A 90-year-old man with severe dementia disrobed himself in front of a 61-year-old woman in her room located in the 7400 block of S.E. 24th Street the night of May 5.
