Car collides with lamppost after police pursuit; man trespassed from Walgreens and other police incidents.

May 16

Fraud: A 55-year-old man and 49-year-old woman at the 9000 block of S.E. 60th Street reported that their personal information was used to file a fraudulent tax return.

June 3

Prowling: A 63-year-old Renton woman reported that her car window was shattered and a gym bag, containing client paper work, was stolen off the front seat at the 3000 block of 78th Avenue S.E.

June 4

Collision: MIPD responded to a two-vehicle non-injury collision at the 3200 block of Island Crest Way. One vehicle, driven by a Mercer Island woman, came to a sudden stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk, and was rear-ended by another car. The other driver, a Seattle man, said he couldn’t stop in time, and that the pedestrian wasn’t close enough to the lanes to justify the sudden stop. He was charged with following too close.

Fraud: A 26-year-old Island man who lives at the 2500 block of 81st Avenue S.E. was issued a fraudulent check.

Fraud: A 49-year-old Island woman at the 3400 bock of 72nd Place S.E. reported credit card fraudulent transactions on multiple cards from early April to May 20.

Harassment: A 47-year-old Seattle man stated that his co-worker, a 50-year-old Island man, threatened him at work at the 3000 block of 78th Avenue S.E.

Theft: A 60-year-old Island woman reported that her gray “Lush” Trek mountain bike was stolen from her garage at the 2900 block of 72nd Avenue S.E.

June 5

Collision: A semi truck with a trailer was making a left turn from the westbound I-90 ramp onto East Mercer Way with the green light, and hit a vehicle waiting at the red light with the lower left skirt of its trailer. Witnesses said that the car was stopped over the painted white stop line. Damage was minimal.

June 6

Marine: A 28-year-old Seattle man was arrested on suspicion of boating under the influence. He was riding a Sea Doo and observed violating speed/wake restrictions near the East Channel Bridge. He refused a breath test but was released on investigation.

Collision: During a police pursuit, a 22-year-old Portland man was traveling northbound in the southbound lane at the 2700 block of 78th Avenue S.E. at a high speed, and collided into another vehicle, driven by a 19-year-old Island woman making a left turn in a designated turn area. He hit a lamppost on the sidewalk. The accident was the result of reckless driving in a stolen vehicle in an attempt to elude police.

June 8

Lost property: A 56-year-old woman at the 8300 block of Avalon Drive lost her wedding ring. She said it has a hinged clasp that can open.

Informational report: A 78-year-old Island man who lives at the 9500 block of S.E. 43rd Street turned in a BB rifle and a BB pistol for destruction.

Trespass: A 26-year-old Snoqualmie man was causing a disturbance in Walgreens on S.E. 27th Street. The manager had the subject trespassed from the store.

June 9

Warrant arrest: SNOCOM advised they had a warrant subject, a 43-year-old Bellevue man, in custody. The King County Sheriff’s Office booked the subject into SCORE Jail.

Collision: MIPD responded to a hit-and-run at the 4000 block of Island Crest Way. A 23-year-old Snoqualmie man said he was rear-ended at a stoplight by a man who was possibly intoxicated, and appeared to have an open alcoholic beverage container between his legs. He left the scene and the other driver lost sight of him. He was described as an older male, about 65 years old and wearing a hat.

June 10

Fraud: A 57-year-old Island woman at the 7900 block of Island Crest Way said a fraudulent tax return was filed using her identity.

June 11

Theft: A 24-year-old Island man at the 7700 block of Sunset Highway reported that his bike, a white Cannondale “Synapse” road bike with blue trim, had been stolen.
